[File Photo: hkcd.com] Australia's largest gas project, Gorgon, is planning to supply more liquefied natural gas to China. Energy giant Chevron, the operator of the Gorgon project, has signed a preliminary agreement with China's ENN LNG Trading Company to supply LNG from the West Australian project starting in 2018. Once the deal is finalized, it expects to supply ENN with half a million tons of LNG annually over 10 years. Currently, ENN's LNG receiving terminal is under construction. Analysts say despite low oil prices and apparent weakness in consumption, Chevron has shown that demand for LNG in China remains strong ahead of its first export in early 2016. |
