Data shows that China’s car ownership had reached 172 million by the end of 2015. [File Photo: cnautonews.com] Figures show that nearly 24 million new cars were registered in China last year, taking car ownership up to 172 million. According to the Ministry of Public Security, among the 136 million small-sized cars, more than 90 percent are privately-owned. In addition, the number of new-energy cars has grown 170 percent from 2014, hitting over 580-thousand. There are 40 cities that have car ownership of more than 1 million, while in 11 cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Tianjin, car ownership exceeds 2 million. |
