New investments have been injected to the two-dimensional virtual industry of animation, comics, games and novels in China. Investors started to eye the 2D market which previously was not widely accepted by the general public but enjoys great popularity among young people. Li Jinxiang, vice president of venture capital firm Gobi Partners, says that new items for consumers indicate financing opportunities. "Investors would like to invest in start-ups and new things. If everyone can understand and know it, there will be no such a huge room of appreciation for primary investment." Data from iResearch shows that some 550 million yuan or 83 million U.S. dollars were put into this industry last year. Giants like Alibaba and Tencent have also invested in 2D video streaming websites like AcFun and Bilibili. |
