[Photo: fmprc.gov.cn] Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi says China will continue to play a constructive role in promoting a political settlement of the Syrian crisis and stands ready to provide more humanitarian aid to the country. He made the remarks when meeting with Khaled Khoja, President of the Syrian National Coalition, a key opposition group in Syria. Khoja is visiting Beijing ahead of an international meeting on a political settlement in Syria, due to be held later on this month in Geneva. Wang Yi says China hopes the Syrian government and the opposition can take further steps to increase mutual understanding and trust in order to find a solution acceptable to all sides. For his part, Khoja says the Syrian National Coalition is ready to take part in UN-sponsored peace talks without conditions, adding that all issues must be resolved through dialogue. Late last year, the Chinese foreign minister held talks with his Syrian counterpart Walid al-Moallem in Beijing.
