China's Ministry of Environmental Protection says initial analysis suggests the latest nuclear test in North Korea will do no harm to China's environment. The ministry started emergency radiation monitoring immediately after the test was made public. The test resulted in a 4.9-magnitude earthquake which was felt strongly in the Chinese side of the border. Readings from 25 monitoring stations in the border area were all within the normal range. The ministry says it will continue both automatic reading and human sampling and analysis. |
