2016 has begun and the new year brings many expectations in the world of business.

In 2015, Chinese stock markets experienced some wild swings.

By the year end, authorities had rolled out some measures to stabilize the stock market, with more on the way.

Meanwhile, a key economic meeting held in December demonstrated China's determination to cut stockpiles in the property market.

The central government had tried to keep housing prices low. However, based on data released last month, housing prices have risen.

Crude oil prices were also a hot topic in 2015. The prices kept dropping, and are down 70 percent compared to the 2008 level.

China is now mulling a new pricing system for fuel that may run differently from global oil prices.

With a look at some of the possible changes in these sectors in the year ahead, CRI's Shane Bigham spoke with Mike Bastin, Director of the China Business Centre at Soutampton Solent University based in London.
