The engine of Air China Flight CA 1822 caught on fire as it prepared for take-off on Thursday morning at the Fuzhou Airport in southeast China's Fujian Province.

A witness said that the firefighters did not recognize Flight CA 1822 immediately and tried to spray water on another plane instead.

However, according to a statement released via Fuzhou Airport's official Weibo, all local rescue units responded immediately and accurately to the emergency.

The statement said all passengers were taken care of, and the incident did not cause any injuries or deaths.

Later, the airport's official website responded to the witness' account by saying that when the first batch of fire fighters arrived at the scene, they found two planes of the same model B737-800.

Flight CA 1822's engine was turned off while FU 6577,the plane nearby, was seen with smoke coming behind its tail. The firefighters were then instructed to first cool down FU 6577.

Minutes later, the control center discovered the error and corrected it.

Flight CA 1822 took off from the airport one hour after the emergency happened.
