China's national civil service exam kicked off on Sunday. This year some 1.4 million applicants in the country are competing for 27,000 jobs.

That means only one out of 50 examinees can be hired.

Those who commit cheating in this year's exam are expected to face up to 7 years in jail, according to the amended criminal law.
