The 32-year-old Deyn elaborates on what attracted her to play the character. "Number one, Terence . Number two, the story. I was just so moved, I remember crying, I was in a hotel room reading it and when something moves me, it's so meaningful. So yeah, I have figure out how I can play this woman." She also indicates that to get the Scottish accent just right was one of her challenges while playing the role. Based on Scottish author Lewis Grassic Gibbon's classic novel of the same name, the film depicts a farming family in rural Scotland, whose lives are torn apart by tragedy as World War I breaks out. The director admits there were moments that proved too much for the cast and crew to bear during the winter shoot in Scotland. "There were times when it was touch and go, when we were sitting in mud with rain and animals farting and you just think 'There's got to be more to life than this". 'Sunset Song' is scheduled to be released in the UK and Ireland on December 4th. |
