Innovation will allow China to enter the next phase of economic development to prevent China's economy from becoming caught in the so-called middle inclome trap, said Soegeng Rahardjo, Indonesian ambassador to China during an interview with Xinhuanet. The 13th five year is an important turning point for China's economic and social development. "It's a comprehensive blueprint which provides both Chinese citizens and foreigners the ability to envision China's path towards social, political, and economic progress", commented Soegeng Rahardjo. "This is important, as China has become the center of the world's attention", he added. On China's lowered GDP growth target, the ambassador stressed, as China's economy enters the "New Normal", it is breaking away from export and investment driven growth model to one that is driven by innovation and consumption. "Innovation is a key factor in driving domestic development, especially in the fields of services and consumption", commented Soegeng Rahardjo. "Nowadays, we have already seen that Chinese brands make an impact in some industries such as smartphones and many kinds of electronic appliances", he said. "Gigantic Chinese companies such as Alibaba and Huawei have pioneered innovation to create world-leading technologies," noted Soegeng Rahardjo. He also welcomed China's efforts to advance regional and international cooperation under the framework of the One Belt, One Road initiative which would complement Indonesia's efforts to become a Global Maritime Fulcrum. "Our hope is that such complementarity would result in real projects that strengthen connectivity and trade links", noted Soegeng Rahardjo. |
