Poster of "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2" [Photo: mtime.com] Lionsgate's "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2" has debuted and topped the North American box office this weekend, taking over 100 million U.S. dollars. Its total is the fifth highest opening of the year, but also makes "Mockingjay - Part 2" the lowest opening weekend of the entire series. Leading the box office for the previous two weeks, "Spectre" fell to the second place with an estimated 15 million dollars. The latest James Bond movie was down a sharp 57 percent from last weekend. "The Peanuts Movie" came in third with nearly 13 million dollars. The 3D computer animated film from Fox and Blue Sky dropped 47 percent in ticket sales from last weekend. It has taken in 99 million dollars in 17 days. Two debuts made the top five: "The Night Before," at 10 million dollars and "Secret In Their Eyes" at 6.6 million dollars. |
