Nicole Kidman, Sir Ian McKellen, and James McAvoy are among the big names on the red carpet for this year's Evening Standard Theatre Awards held in London. The 36-year-old McAvoy won the Best actor award for his performance in 'The Ruling Class'. He talks about his excitement for even getting mentioned alongside his fellow nominees. "Some incredible actors, Kenneth Cranham a really amazing actor, Simon, Fiennes, just some really amazing people. You know, just to get mentioned alongside them. Really nice, really, really nice to get nominated, to be on the same carpet and asking questions or answering question as these guy, it's nice." Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman has been named the Best Actress for her performance in the play 'Photograph 51'. She says it was sad that her role as scientist Rosalin Franklin wrapped up in this three-month-run play. "It was sad, I was crying in the curtain call both in the matinee and the evening performance because it's been an extraordinary three months and it's been obviously, you know. That's the thing about theatre, once it's done it's done and it's gone forever. So that's the beauty of it." Founded in 1955, the Evening Standard Theatre Awards are presented annually for outstanding achievements in London Theatre. |
