One miner has been confirmed dead and seven others are still unaccounted for after an iron mine collapsed Thursday afternoon in east China's Shandong Province, sources with the mine said Saturday. The accident occurred around 3:30 p.m. on Thursday at the Shengda Iron Mine, in Tushan Township, Laizhou City. One body was retrieved on Friday night. The mine is owned by Shandong Gold Group Co., Ltd., one of China's largest gold producers. Rescue operations are under way. |
