The base of the China-ASEAN Information Harbor was officially launched in Nanjing, GuangxiZhuang autonomous region on Sunday.
The inauguration ceremony was held during the China-ASEAN Information Harbor Forum, whichends on Monday.
Lu Wei, minister of the Cyberspace Administration of China, said China will push forward theestablishment of the China-ASEAN Information Harbor fund and increase investment ininformation infrastructure relying on the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank and the Silk RoadFund. He added a portal for China-ASEAN Information Harbor will be established to promotepenetration of the Internet and break the information barrier and bridge the "digital gap".
"We'll share with ASEAN countries the information service on economy and finance, educationand scientific research, health care and disaster early warning, and let the construction of theInformation Harbor benefit people in both China and ASEAN countries", Lu said.
According to plan, the core base will be constructed in the Wuxiang New District. There are 34projects currently selected, with investment of about 20.9 billion yuan ($3.28 billion).
