China's Ministry of Finance has released its public spending budget for 2015. The total budget estimation for overseas trips, vehicle purchases and official receptions, known as "three public consumptions," is 63.16 million yuan, marking the fifth consecutive year that the numbers have been reduced. However, 10 departments including China's General Administration of Sports, Ministry of Transport, and the Red Cross Society of China reported higher budget estimations than last year. For example, the General Administration of Sports (GAS)'s budget for overseas trips in 2015 is 2.39 billion yuan, 30 million yuan more than that was in 2014. The GAS explains that more World Championships and World Cups for various sports events will be held in 2015 and more athletes will be sent overseas to take part in those games. Thus the expenditure will be raised accordingly. As for the Ministry of Transport, it said the port dues of vessels being included into public spending is the reason for a higher budget. The Red Cross Society of China attributes the reason of fund increase to a larger realm of official reception, saying it has included the fee of foreign guest receptions into official receptions. China's central government's expenditure of the three public consumptions was 65.66 billion in 2014; 5.8 billion yuan lower than last year's budget. |
