Asian champion Ning Zetao has won the gold medal in men's 100 meter freestyle at the National Swimming Championships.

Ning was two hundredths of a second slower than his time in the semifinals.

He admitted it was not his best performance.

"I have a little bit of regret about the result. I wish I could have been a bit faster. Actually it felt easier than yesterday, and I wasn't that out of breath. I'm going to save my best for the World Championships."

The victory automatically qualifies Ning for the World Championships in July.

Other results from the same day:

Wang Shun won the men's 200 meter individual medley;

Fu Yuanhui came in first in women's 50 meter backstroke;

And it was team Beijing winning the women's 4x200 meter freestyle relay.
