Luo Zhihuan, the first world champion of China’s short-track speeding skating team. He was born in Tieli, Heilongjiang in 1941 with the nationality of Korea. On Feb. 24th, 1963, only 21 years old, Luo Zhihuan won the men’s 1500m short-track speed skating gold medal in the World Speed Skating Championships held in Nagano Karuizawa, Japan. He also broke the world record and became China’s first winter sports world champion.

After Luo Zhihuan became the world champion in February, 1963, Heilongjiang has had a group of world champions such as Cao Guifeng, Xue Ruihong, Wang Manli, Yang Yang, Wang Meng, Yu Fengtong, Wang Beixing, Sui Baoku, Liu Qiuhong, Li Wenwen and Fan Kexin. Ma Yunfeng won the men’s 500m short track speed skating. Sui Baoku, Ma Yunfeng, Zhang Zhiqiang and Gao Ming won the men’s 5000m relay world title.

Xue Ruihong was born in a sports’ aristocratic family from Fulaerji, Qiqihar in April 1968. In 1997, she was the first in the 500 meters and 1000 meters trials of the 17th Olympic Winter Games. In January, 1997, she was the first in the 500 meters in the Davos, Switzerland World Cup.

In 1997, in the 12 games of the World Cup women's short-range series 6 stations, Xue Ruihong was first with 6 wins in the 500 meters and a total score of 385 points.

In 2004, in Seoul World Speed Skating single tournament, she won the women's 500 meters gold medal with the total score from the two rounds of 76 seconds to 88.

Yang Yang was born in Qitaihe. Since the 1998-1999 World Cup season, she has been established in the field of short track speed skating. Tai Yang Yang has been reelected three times as the women's all-around champion. In 20 attempts in the World Series, Tai Yang Yang got into the final 18 times and won 12 titles. In Feb. 2002, she took part in the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics USA and won the women's 500 meters and 1000 meters, two short track speed skating firsts. She became China’s first woman to win gold medals at the winter Olympics.

Yu Fengtong, famous male athlete of China’s speed skating team, has considerable strength in the short distance. He won the 100 meters and 500 meters at the World Cup. In Salt Lake City, 2005, he won the gold medal in the 500 meters Speed Skating World Championships.

Wang Meng was born in Qitaihe. She was part of the women's short track speed skating sports. She was good at the 500 meters and won the champion of the World Cup races several times. She won the 500 meters’ gold medal in the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin and successfully defended her 500 meters gold medal at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics

Wang Beixing is another world-level short distance speed skater after Wang Manli. In the 2008 World Cup in Berlin station 500 meters gold medal; 2007 World Cup Heerenveen 500 meters champion; 2005 World Cup American 500 meters champion

Liu Qiuhong is from Qitaihe. 2011 Kazakhstan Asian Winter Games women's 500 meters champion; 2011 Kazakhstan Asian Winter Games short track speed skating women's 3000 meter relay champion (Members: Zhou Yang, Liu Qiuhong, Fan Kexin and Zhang Hui)

Fan Kexin, athlete of China’s female Short track speed skating team, was born in Heilongjiang. She is from Qitaihe like Wang Meng and Yang Yang. In 2011, she won the 500 meters and 3000 meters relay race in The World Short Track Speed Skating Championships.

Shen Xue and Zhao Hongbo: athletes of China’s figure skating. World Championship Pairs Champions in 2002 and 2003; 2004,2006,2007,2009 world figure skating Grand Prix finals Pairs champions; 2002 World Championships Pairs Champion; On February 16, 2010, Shen Xue / Zhao Hongbo with a total score of 216.57 in the Winter Olympics in Vancouver, the highest score in their history won the first Olympic gold medal in the history of Chinese figure skating!

Wang Bingyu, Liu Yin, Yue Qingshuang and Zhou Yan---Curling

China’s female curling team was founded in 2003. Although the team is young, the girls from China’s curling team ascend top teams in the world. Wang Bingyu, Yue Qingshuang, Liu Yin and Zhou Yan got runner-up in 2008 Female Curling World Championship and and tickets for the Winter Olympics in Vancouver. They became champion in Harbin Winter Universiade on Feb. 2009 and they won the Women's Curling World Championship on March 25th, 2009.

Wang Lina was born in Yichun, Heilongjiang Province. She was selected into national team when she was 18 years old. Despite being 1.81 meters tall, Wang’s bounce is excellent and aloft ability is amazing. So the spiking is energetically and heavily. Meanwhile, her jump serve is a powerful weapon of the Chinese women's volleyball team. She got “the best serve award” in Women’s Volleyball League Match for three times. She attended 2003 FIVB World Grand Prix and won the Asian championship, the World Cup champion and gold medal in 2004 Athens Olympic Games.

Ping pong

World table tennis champion Jiao Zhimin is from Yichun, Heilongjiang. She won the women's singles title in the first Eurasian Table Tennis Tournament in 1988. In the same year, she won the women's singles’ gold medal in the Tenth Seoul Asian Games.

Kong Linghui is a milestone in China’s Ping Pong circle. He got China's first horizontal plate offensive play of the men's singles champion in history. He together with Liu Guoliang opened the Gemini era "of the Chinese men's table tennis. At 2000 Sydney Olympic Games, Kong Linghui all the way through, in the final victory over old rivals Waldner, won the men's singles gold medal.

Ding Ning, native of Daqing, Heilongjiang Province, is the main Chinese women's table tennis player in the team. In May, 2011, Ding Ning became the Rotterdam World Table Tennis Championships singles champion. On Oct. 30th, 2011, Ding Ning won the Female Ping Pong World Cup； women’s team title in 2012 Asian Table Tennis Championships; 2012 London Olympic Games women's singles runner-up. In London Olympics 2012, Li Xiaoxia, Ding Ning and Guo Yue were the champions of the Ping Pong Women’s team event.

Bai Xue is from Yi’an County, Qiqihar. She won the gold medal in the women's marathon at the 2009 Athletics World Championships, with the result of two hours 25 minutes and 15 seconds

Li Duihong from Daqing is an athlete in China’s shooting team. She won the Women's 25m sport pistol event and record Olympic record in Atlanta, the 26th Olympic Games in 1996.

Wang Zhen from Beilin, Suihua, Heilongjiang Province is a famous athlete in China’s athletics group. He won the men's 20km walk at the IAAF Race Walking World Cup in May 2012.

Jiao Liuyang won the 2011 Shanghai World Swimming Championships women's 200-meter butterfly. On August 1st, 2012, at London Olympic Games in the women's 200-meter butterfly race, JiaoLiuyang won the gold medal in 2 minutes 04 seconds 06.

Li Yanfeng is from Qinggang, Heilongjiang Province. She was the women's discus champion in Daegu, South Korea 2011 World Athletics Championships.

Cao Lei won the women's weightlifting 75kg gold medal with a total score of 282 kg, breaking the snatch and the clean and jerk total score of Olympics at Beijing Olympics 2008.
