1 Jingyu Street The oldest street in Harbin has over 100-years of history starting from 1899. It is the distribution of living places, going into business and transportation of people of Manchu and Han nationality. 2 Yiman Street Yiman Street lies in Nangang District, Harbin and was founded in 1921. Its original name is Shan Street. On July 7th, 1946, the Harbin Government renamed Shan Street into Yiman Street. The street is located in the center of the city. It starts from Wenmiao Street in the northeast to Jihong Street in the southwest. It is the main street to connect Daoli District, Daowai District and Taiping. It is 2375 meters long and covered in asphalt. 3 Zhaolin Street It is located in Daoli District and its original name is Shuidao Street. It starts from Zhaolin Park in the north to Jihong Street in the south. It is an ancient street named by General Li Zhaolin. Meanwhile, the well-known 鈥淪t. Sophia Church鈥?is located in Zhaolin Street. Zhaolin Park in the north of Zhaolin Street has held many ice lantern exhibitions since the 1980s. Harbin Song and Dance Ensemble and Harbin Theatre also lie in Zhaolin Street. 4 Shangzhi Street Harbin Shangzhi Street lies in the south of the Songhua River in Daoli District. It starts from Youyi Road in the north to Jihong Street in the south. It connects Haicheng Street in Nangang District with a railway viaduct bridge. The street is 1480 meters long and 32 meters wide. The carriage-way is 21 meters and the sidewalk is 5.5 meters. 5 Zhongshan Road On May 28th, 1946, after the founding of the Harbin Government, a street is named Zhongshan Road in honor of Sun Zhongshan. Zhongshan Road now stretches across Nangang District and Xiangfang District and lies in the center of Harbin. 6 Gogol Street Gogol Street was built in 1901 with a hundred-year-old history. In 1902, Qiulin Company expanded business, moved the branch company in Xiangfang District to the interchange of Dazhi Street and Gogol in Nangang District and built storied houses. From then on, many Russian shops and pharmacies near Qiulin Company had expanded. Gogol Street began to enlarge and was eventually extended. It lies in the center of Nangang District. It starts from Wenchang Street in the south to Yiman Street in the north. The total length is 2642 meters. It was ashlars鈥?road before, then it changed into an asphalt road in 1987. The width of the roadway is 12 to 21 meters and the sidewalks of the two sides are 2-4 meters. The street is paved by trail road and is the first class street of the city. In 1958, it was renamed Fendou Road (Striving Road) to memorize Chairman Mao Zedong wrote an inscription 鈥淪triving鈥?when inspecting Harbin. It was renamed Gogol Street on September 28th, 2003. |
