Dreamworks China to Produce First Animation in 2016

The US company is trying to establish its Shanghai-based China Studio based in, Oriental DreamWorks, as a landmark entertainment center.

Jeffrey Katzenberg, CEO of DreamWorks Animation, says seven proposals are competing for Oriental DreamWorks' maiden production.

The China-US joint venture was first announced in February during Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping's visit to the United States.

Its Chinese partners hold 55 percent of company shares.
