Liu plays Zhao Hongqi, a battalion commander in the liberation army who is assigned to fight bandits in southwest China and later finds himself in a face-off with his twin brother who becomes head of an anti-communist army. Meanwhile, Zhao's girlfriend becomes a bandit and cunning spy who undertakes secret missions for the Kuomintang. Jia'ning plays the female bandit skilled in riding horses and shooting. She said the complicated role has been a challenge for her. Other veteran actors, including Tian Niu, Kou Zhenhai, Cheng Qian and Ding Yongdai, have been cast in the series. Shooting will finish by the end of June. |
