Walk into Heilongjiang—the Cultural Heritage

Heilongjiang is a frontier province, which has many immigrants and multi-ethnic people. More than 90% people are Han nationality. Although the minority only possess a small part, the ethnic kinds are various, including ten nationalities __man, Hui, south Korea, Mongolian, daur, olunchun, ewenki, kirgiz, hezhen and xibo. The indigenous people of these nationalities are gregarious. And man, Mongolian, olunchun, ewenki and daur have rich history of myth. In hezhen, olunchun and daur, there are popular stories about heroes. For example, yimakan in hezhe, mosukun in olunchun and wuqin in daur, which are precious heritage of the culture of Heilongjiang.

Since modern age, Heilongjiang, a big multi-ethnic frontier province, has gradually formed a civilization feature that combine frontier, ethnic, east and west together. Since the beginning of Qing dynasty, people, who are the “flow people” and inner immigrants from “longxing lan” that is reopen, bring in the mixture of excellent Chinese traditions, all kinds of inner customs and indigenous culture of Heilongjiang. At the beginning of 21century,Heilongjiang has become a centre of international trade, especially harbin, heihe, suifen river. The main part of modern Heilongjiang civilization is collide and blend of various features on architecture, culture, education, hygiene and other fields from different countries including Russia, Japan, Germany, the Netherlands, France and many other eastern and western countries.

In Heilongjiang, the heritages of Intangible culture are very rich. Some of them have become parts of art creation and produce excellent works; some become a part of tourism and create social and economic benefits. On March27, 2007, Heilongjiang government announced the first batch of province intangible cultural heritage list. There are 57 items, and there are 9 national intangible cultural heritage items with the icon ★.
