“Come into Hei Longjiang Province”------The heritage of Hei Longjiang

Hei Longjiang is a frontier province which is consists of many different peoples, and also a province of immigration. The population of the Han ethnic accounts for more than 90% of the whole province. Although the minority is less in population, it has more races which mainly contains 10 minorities that live here for centuries, they’re the Han, the Muslim, the Korean, the Mongolian, the Daur, the Oroqin, the Ewenki, the Kirghiz, the Hezhen and the Xibe. These peoples are always supported by their community when they were faced with the transformation of history or folk custom. Of all these peoples, the Man, the Mongolian, the Oroqin, the Ewenki and the Daur have a rich heritage of mythology. Some long-length songs about saga went round for quite a long time, such as the Yimakan of the Hezhen, the Mosukun of the Oroqin and the Wuqin of the Daur. These historical songs are all civilized treasure of Hei Longjiang.

During the modern history of China, Hei Longjiang, the frontier province with many different peoples, has gradually formed a character of border area, of nation and with a compatibility of both the east and west. The immigration from the inside after the liberate of the scattered people and the dragon arising from the beginning of the Qing Dynasty brought excellent tradition of Chinese people and varieties of folk custom, which combines the indigenous civilization of Hei Longjiang. At the beginning of 1900s, Hei Longjiang, especially the bank of Harbin, Heihe and Suifenhe, became international entrepots.The different characters incarnated through different architecture, religion, civilization, education, sanitation and varieties of aspects from Russia, Japan, German, Natherland, France and some other eastern or western countries communicated with the native culture of Hei Longjiang, and became an important part of Hei Longjiang civilization.

Hei Longjiang Province has rich resources of immaterial cultural heritage, some of which have been created by different kinds of literature, and have produced a large number of excellent works; while some of which have stepped into the cavaloade of tour industry, and created advantage in both community and economy. The government of Hei Longjiang announced the catalogue of the first group of immaterial cultural heritage with a province-degree,57 items included all together, on March 27th, 2007.From all of them, the items with a star mark belong to immaterial cultural heritage with a nation-degree,9 items included all together.
