    The Series of “Getting Close to Heilongjiang”— Heilongjiang cultural heritage

    Heilongjiang is a boarder province where multi-ethnic groups live in a compact community and also an immigration province. The population of the Han nationality accounts for more than 90% of the province’s total population, while minority ethnic groups have a relatively small population, but are of great variety. There are mainly ten native minorities, including Manchu, Hui, Korean, Mongolian, Daur, Olunchun, Ewenki, kirgiz, Hezhen and Xibe. The historical changes and fork customs of the native minorities are mostly based on compact communities. Among the ten minorities, Manchu, Mongolian, Olunchun, Ewenki, Daur have abundant mythological inheritance. For a long period of time, there are many long talking and singing music on heroes having been spread among Hezhen, Olunchun and Daur, such as "Yimakan" of Hezhen, "Mosukun" of Olunchun and "Wuqin" of Daur. All these epic talking and singing music is valuable national cultural treasure of Heilongjiang province.

    Since modern and contemporary times, Heilongjiang has gradually formed a civilized characteristics combining both Chinese and western cultures, which is specific to this boarder province with multi-ethnic groups. Because of the exiles since the early Qing Dynasty and the immigrants after the lifting of the ban on "Long Xing land" that is an exclusive area of Qing royal family, the splendid traditions of the Chinese nation and various folk customs inside Shanghai Pass integrated with original cultures of Heilongjiang. In the early 20th century, many cities in Heilongjiang, especially Harbin, Heihe, Suifenhe Port have developed into international business centers. The different cultural traits of both eastern and western countries like Russia, Japan, Germany, the Netherlands, France, which is embodied in architecture, religion, culture, education, health and other aspects, exchanging and communicating with the regional culture of Heilongjiang become an important part of the Heilongjiang River Valley civilization.

    Heilongjiang province is rich in intangible cultural heritage resources. Some of them have entered the literary and artistic creations in various categories, producing a large number of excellent works and some of them have entered the ranks of tourism and culture industries, creating social and economic benefits. Heilongjiang Provincial Government announced the first batch of Provincial Intangible Cultural Heritage totals 57 in 27 March 2007, 9 of which are National Intangible Cultural Heritage.
