Outdoor activities in Chengdu mainly consist of thrilling boating, leisurely cycling, and tough trekking. All make visitors embrace the mountains and rivers of the countryside.

In the city, visitors can go to the Renmin Park for boating as there are different kinds of pedal-boats for hire. For those who prefer further excursions, river drifting is highly recommended. Around the city, there are countless rivers which are ideal for drifting.

 

 

　　Sanjiang river drifting

Sanjiang Ecological Scenic Area is located to the south of Wenchuan county, Aba Tibetan-Qiang Autonomous Prefecture. It is made up of Xihe River Scenic Area, Zhonghe River Scenic Area and Panlong Mountain Scenic Area. The Sanjiang river drifting is an important part of Sanjiang ecological travel. The water runs as clear as crystal. The hills are clothed with varied vegetation. Visitors can also see the relics of ancient plank roads on the mountains.

How to get there: drive along Chengguan Expressway and arrive at Dujiangyan, go upstream along Minjiang River Valley and reach the scenic area via Xuankou, Shuimo and Sanjiang towns.
