The new romantic comedy "The Jade and the Pearl", co-produced by Shaw Brothers Studio, Television Broadcasts Limited and Emperor Motion Pictures, premiered in Hong Kong on Monday, August 2, with cast members Raymond Lam, Charlene Choi, Joey Yung and Wong Cho-Lam in attendance.

In the complex love story, actress Charlene Choi plays Princess Yan, who is marrying a faraway king. During the long journey, the princess falls in love with her escort, General Ching Hin (Raymond Lam) and exchanges her dowry pearl for his family treasure jade as love tokens.

The convoy is attacked and in the confusion, Princess Yan falls off the cliff and loses her memory. Meanwhile General Ching falls into the hands of the attackers, a group of robbers headed by Chuk Sam Leung (Joey Yung).

Ching insists on leaving to look for the princess, and Chuk is willing to go with him. Meanwhile, storyteller Ling Kam Hoi (Wong Cho-Lam) saves Princess Yan and she starts a new life with him. When Yan and Ching are reunited, Yan has fallen in love with Ling.

The film will open in Hong Kong on August 5 and in the Chinese mainland on August 13.
