Chinese action film "Triple Tap" made 38.16 million yuan (5.6 million US dollars) at the box office in the 4 days following its July 1st release. Director Yee Tung-Sing said it's good enough while the World Cup is still underway, M1905.com reports.

The first three days after the film opened coincided with the quarter finals of the South Africa 2010 World Cup. Compared with the low attendance in cinemas for other films, "Triple Tap" sold more than 80 percent of its tickets while the Brazil/Dutch and Argentina/Germany game was on.

"We were successful in attracting audiences and survived while competing with the World Cup. I'm satisfied with that. And I actually care more about the fans' comments on the film than box office sales." said director Yee.

Good box office sales were ensured by the quality of the film and the performances from the actors. Leading actors Koo Tin-lok, Daniel Wu, Li Bingbing and Charlene Choi always appeal to audiences.

"Triple Tap has had the best box office opening among summer holiday films this year." said Yu Dong, managing director of Bona International Film Group. "I believe we will do better than that since the World Cup is almost over. Now it's just a start."

"Triple Tap" plans to make more than 100 million yuan (nearly 15 million US dollars) at the box office.
