A TV adaptation of director Feng Xiaogang's famous movie "Cell Phone" is to premiere on four satellite channels in China on May 10. A launch ceremony was held in Beijing on Wednesday. Lead cast members Wang Zhiwen, Chen Daoming, Liu Bei and Ke Lan attended the ceremony. Feng's film was made in 2003 and became the most successful domestic film of that year. It was adapted from a novel of the same name, telling the story of two successful men whose marriages are wrecked when their wives uncover their extra-marital affairs through traces left on their cell phones. More broadly, the film explores the role of cell phones in interpersonal relationships in modern China, where the rapid development of information technology is having huge impacts on the way people communicate. The TV version will stay faithful to the original; however, the actors have not sought to imitate performances from the 2003 movie. During the ceremony, the actors explained their roles in the TV series.
