A Korean passenger who was in a critical condition following a bus crash in northeast China is stable and out of danger, the hospital said on Friday.

A bus carrying 26 tourists from the Republic of Korea(ROK), one Chinese driver and one Chinese tour guide, fell off a bridge on Wednesday in Jilin Province. Eleven people, the bus driver plus ten from the ROK, were killed and another 17 were injured.

A 36-year-old passenger suffered multiple rib fractures which endangered the lungs, said Wang Haifeng, vice head of the hospital, adding that the patient is now out of danger.

The injured were all treated at The First Hospital of Jilin University in the provincial capital of Changchun .

Of the other 16, eight have serious injuries and the others are slightly injured. Some patients will be able to return to the ROK in four or five days, according to the hospital.

Eighteen students majoring in Korean language from the Changchun's Jilin Huaqiao University of Foreign Languages are working as translators at the hospital.

Families of the victims have begun to arrive and were accompanied by a service team.

The bus, owned by Xin Tour Agency, was heading for Dandong from Yanji City in Jilin. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
