A meeting of the Greater Mekong Subregion Economic Cooperation Program is underway in Yunnan's capital, Kunming.

The Chinese delegation to the meeting is being led by Chinese Commerce Minister Gao Hu.

"We must combine infrastructure construction with trade and investment. We also need to coordinate trade, investment and the urbanization of the economic corridor. We encourage every member to take part in building a comprehensive infrastructure network among us."

Sun Chanthol, Cambodia's Minister of Commerce, says the development of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank should help provide a new financing channel for the development of the Greater Mekong Subregion.

The Greater Mekong Subregion includes all countries which have access to the river.

The Mekong originates in China and runs through Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam.

Around 260 projects among the countries have been jointly launched since 2013 worth some 17-billion US dollars.
