Lovebirds in Beijing cannot register for marriage on this year's upcoming Valentine's Day on February 14, the Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau announced on February 6.

The registration offices' employees will enjoy the festival as scheduled by the State Council, and there are no overtime duty arrangements, the officer said, adding that those who plan to tie the knot can register on workdays after February 15, the sixth day of the lunar calendar.

Data have shown that an increasing number of couples in the capital got registered on the Valentine's Day in recent years, with 3,894 couples and more than 4,000 couples registering on this day in 2011 and 2012, respectively.
