銆€銆€PARIS, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has added intangible cultural elements from four countries to its List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding. 銆€銆€The newly listed elements include earthenware pottery-making skills in Botswana, knotted or woven bag by the people of Papua in Indonesia, felt carpets making in Kyrgyzstan and gourd trumpet music, and dance of the Busoga Kingdom in Uganda. 銆€銆€An intergovernmental committee which put the four elements onto the list on Tuesday said that the knowledges, practices and skills of the traditional arts and crafts were at risk of extinction, mainly because the remaining numbers of the older masters were becoming fewer and fewer. 銆€銆€So far, 25 elements in 15 countries had already been put onto the list of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding. 銆€銆€The registration of the elements on the list helps mobilize international cooperation and assistance to keep them alive.
