A star-studded ceremony for the 21st biennial Starlight Awards, the highest honor that the Chinese government bestows on domestic television broadcasters, was held Tuesday in Zhengzhou, capital of Henan Province.

Fifty-five shows and programs that aired on television between 2007 and 2009 took away awards in 11 categories, including outstanding variety shows, outstanding entertainment programs and outstanding documentaries.

"The Devotion of Love," China Central Television (CCTV)'s massive fundraising gala for the Sichuan earthquake victims, claimed the top award of the night.

Shanghai Media Group turned out to be a big winner, grabbing seven awards and seven nominations.

CCTV's powerful lineup of hosts, including Li Ruiying, Li Yong, Wang Xiaoya and Sa Beining, took to the stage for performances.

Other celebrities included popular crosstalk actor Feng Gong, Jiang Kun, veteran singer Mao Amin and Teng Ge'er. Chinese soprano Song Zuying performed the hit show finale.

The 21st biennial Starlight Awards are the Chinese equivalent of the American Emmy Awards. Most winners are selected by a panel of industry experts.
