Powerhouse Finland eased past Slovakia 7-2 in the women's ice hockey competition at the Harbin Winter Universiade here on Tuesday.
Finland scored early in 1:00 minute in the first period by forward Linda Valimaki. Slovakia rallied to tie 2-2 in 17:05 but all their efforts went in vain since then.
Finland kept the momentum to collect two goals in just 43 seconds in the first period and never let the Slovakian find the chance to get closer to their gate any more.
The last two periods became the show time of Finnish skills and speed, as Essi Hallvar, Linda Valimaki and Mira Jalosuo added three more goals to seal the victory for Finland, thrashing Slovakia 7-2. (Northeast web)
